The Elk Mountains Grand Traverse is an extraordinary
event designed to plumb the depths of every participant's
ability to suffer and endure. It is also hell on gear
and equipment. If you think that the racers are working
hard, take a look at the volunteers. Working for three
or four days nearly twenty miles into rugged backcountry,
they need the right equipment to make this race a
